Brenda is a New York based artist and award-winning costume designer for stage and film. She received her MFA in design from NYU Tisch School of the Arts where she had the opportunity to work with theater and film directors with whom she would develop long term collaborative relationships.
Her career began in the commercial theater world but the independent film and downtown theater scene is where she cut her teeth. While hustling ideas to life from the ground up she learned how to finesse her creative story telling; marrying style with substance. She has had the opportunity to work in many genres and styles that are as varied as SNL, Broadway, and Academy Award winning films. Noteworthy Credits include CODA (Academy Award Best Picture), DISASTER ARTIST (Golden Globe and Oscar Nominated), SNL (Associate Costume Designer), THE SIGN IN SIDNEY BRUSTEIN’S WINDOW (Broadway), Brenda received the 2023 Hewes Design Award for Excellence in Costume Design for THE SIGN IN SIDNEY BUSTEINS WINDOW, a 2023 Obie award for her design contributions to Sarah Gancher’s RUSSIAN TROLL FARM, and a 2020 Elliot Norton Award for Rachel Chavkin’s and Dave Malloy’s epic musical MOBY DICK at the American Repertory Theater.
She resides in downtown NY with her husband, baby boy and two cats
